Justin Jennings is Associate Curator of New World Archaeology in the Anthropology Section of the ROM's Department of World Cultures. Prior to his arrival at the ROM in 2006, he taught anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Franklin and Marshall College. Dr. Jennings is currently working on the two new ROM galleries opening soon - the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific gallery and the textile gallery.
Justin Jennings has conducted archaeological fieldwork in Peru over the last twelve years. He just finished leading the excavations of a site in southern Peru that dates from 600-1500 AD. While his research interests centre on the organization of ancient states in the Andes, he has also brewed beer as part of his research on feasting and whitewater rafted to better understand archaeological tourism. He is the editor of two upcoming volumes and has written widely on archaeology for both scholarly audiences and the general public.
This event is presented as part of the Latin American Studies Luncheon Series. A light lunch will be provided to those who register online at http://webapp.mcis.utoronto.ca/EventDetails.aspx?eventid=4483 by 9am on Monday February 25, 2009.
