Dr. Rukhsana Qamber is Director, Area Study Centre for Africa, North & South America, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. She was member of the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey during 2004-2005 and occupant of the Pakistan Studies Chair at the University of Barcelona, 1999-2002. She has a Ph.D. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, a Masters from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University and a Masters from Quaid-i-Azam University. Her research interests include Islamic influences and Muslim immigration to LatinAmerica during the sixteenth century, hijrat/immigration among Pakistanis, pedagogy, especially feminist methodology, and explorations of Pakistani identites.
